Earth Expo - posted 6.11.09

 This Friday, don't miss the Earth Expo, an event celebrating our planet!  Come check out the project displays, games, and activities, where you can learn about a variety of environmental issues including the Chesapeake Bay, water conservation, and more!  There will be a dinner catered by Willoughby's Market, as well as a short film premiere.  The first 30 people to visit all of the displays and play all of the games will win a limited Save Your Rainforest wristband.  Admission is free.

SGA Staff Interviews - posted 5.29.09

The 2009-2010 SGA staff interviews will take place on June 4, 2009 at 2:15 to 4:00 pm, in room B230.  Students are free to just show up, no reservation is necessary.  In the past, some applicants have brought resumes, letters of recommendation, writing samples, or other materials, but nothing is required.  Everyone is welcome to come and we look forward to seeing you there!

Dance for a Chance - posted 1.28.09

You've been asking for years, and now it's finally here! Blake SGA is sponsoring Dance for a Chance, the school's first winter dance!   

Tickets are $5.00 and will be sold 1/29/09 to 2/6/09 at lunch in the Spiral Staircase.  (Seniors may purchase tickets for non-Blake guests, provided the guest is age 20 or younger.) 

Our very own Ben Schnapp will be DJ'ing the dance and is taking requests for songs. Send your requests to djbschnapp@hotmail.com


SGA Sandwich Making 2009 - posted 1.10.09

Sandwich making was so successful last year, with over 800 sandwiches made, that it's back!  Meet in the cafeteria after 7th period exams on January 23, 2009 to make sandwiches to donate to the DC Central Kitchen.  Blake SGA will provide all the supplies.  This event is also eligible for SSL hours.  See you there!

Each 1st period class will be able to elect one student to serve as the SGA General Assembly Representative.  Check back soon for more election details.
 

Blood Drive Success - posted 12.1.08

Thanks to everyone who donated blood in the October SGA Blood Drive!  It was the most successful one yet - 66 participants and 52 usable quarts of blood.  Look out for information in the Spring for the April SGA Blood Drive!
 

Countdown To Homecoming 2008 - posted 8.28.08

Homecoming week is almost here!  Make sure to check the Homecoming page for updates on all the information concerning Homecoming, from the Powder Puff game to the theme of this year's dance; Atlantis: Journey to the Sunken City.  You can get involved in so many ways - just ask your class representatives or an SGA officer for details!  The festivities start September 22nd, so mark your calendars now!

2nd SGA Sandwich Making Successful - posted 8.8.08

Just like the first time, the second sandwich making event was a smashing success! On Wednesday, June 11, after 7th period exams, many Blake students  gave the first couple hours of their summer vacation to make hundreds of sandwiches to donate to the hungry in the metro DC area. With food prices at a record high, their help couldn't have come at a better time for area residents.  To everyone who participated, thanks for showing how much you care! Click here to see photos.
